The approved specification should define the printer, dimensions, core or fanfold stack, facestock, adhesive, shelf or rack surface, barcode symbology, scanner and scan distance, handling, and retention requirement. Direct thermal and thermal transfer constructions are selected by the required image life and exposure, then verified against a printed and scanned sample before bulk production.
